Batik - An Identity of Indonesia

Indonesia is a multicultural region which consists of thousand islands and people. The differences of demography and geography result in cultural differences, such as the outfits worn simply by each tribe. Batik is one of the outfits which have been quite popular, and its level of popularity has been known worldwide.

If you watch TV and see the President of Indonesia talking in public or even in international gatherings, you may see him or her wearing such an cultural shirt with distinctive motifs. That is exactly what so called batik, the particular national clothes of Indonesia citizens.

In a few occasions, Indonesian may wear their conventional outfits, such as kebaya, baju kurung, ulos, etc . But when offered to national events, batik talks very much. This outfit is a symbol of unity. It is a uniform which is considered as absolutely essential. This is a way to demonstrate how proud they are to be Indonesia people.

Years ago, batik was only worn throughout formal occasions. During that time, Indonesian tend to pick batik instead of tuxedo or other official outfits. But today, batik is even put on by students and even employees as their uniform in certain days, including every Friday.



In certain families, Batik will be even considered as a tradition. It makes them have their own motifs that are different from other households. It is like their own identity, since the cause can even show their economical status. Until now, the traditional motifs continue to be used by the family of Yogyakarta and Surakarta residence. Batik is just about the most unique outfit you have ever known. In which else you can find that will brands do not discuss much, but sujet do?
